Camp Erin Hamilton is a bereavement camp for children and teenages (ages 6 - 17) who have experienced the death of a loved one. Friday, June 9th to Sunday, June 11th, 2017 marks the fifth annual Camp Erin Hamilton. This annual camp is made possible through the support of many dedicated volunteers. Volunteers are needed to serve as cabin big buddies to the children and as grief activity facilitators to assist with some camp activities.
Cabin Big Buddies
Children are assigned adult volunteers, as “cabin big buddies,” whom they will spend the camp weekend with. Each big buddy must participate in training to prepare for working with the children. The individual attention that these adult buddies provide throughout the weekend is part of what makes Camp Erin Hamilton so special. Big buddies are there to offer support and companionship for the campers.
Grief Activity Facilitators
Grief Activity Facilitators support the campers through various activities that allow them to express their feelings. Activities are planned by our Clinical Director. Each Grief Activity Facilitator must participate in training to prepare for working with the children. Bereavement experience is an asset.
