Camp Keaton Volunteer Application

Thank you for your interest in Camp Keaton Hamilton.

Camp Keaton Hamilton is a bereavement camp for children and teenagers (ages 7 - 17) who have experienced the death of a loved one.  CAMP KEATON will be held June 5th - 7th, 2020.  This annual camp is made possible through the support of many dedicated volunteers.  Volunteers are needed to serve as Cabin Big Buddies to the children and as Grief Activity Facilitators to assist with some camp activities.

CABIN BIG BUDDIES

Children are assigned volunteers, Cabin Big Buddies, whom they will spend the camp weekend with.  Each Cabin Big Buddy must participate in training to prepare for working with the children. The individual attention that the Cabin Big Buddies provide throughout the weekend is part of what makes Camp Keaton so special. Cabin Big buddies are there to offer support and companionship for the campers.

GRIEF ACTIVITY FACILITATOR

Grief Activity Facilitators support the campers through various activities that allow them to express their feelings. Activities are planned by our Director and Grief Counsellor.  Each Grief Activity Facilitator must participate in training to prepare for working with the children. Bereavement experience is an asset.

Camp Keaton Hamilton volunteer training begins February 2020.  Volunteer training dates are in the evening and on Saturdays - February 20, 22, 27, 29 and March 3.  You must attend all dates to volunteer for Camp Keaton Hamilton.

For information on how you can volunteer for this extraordinary annual weekend, please contact Karen Nowicki, Camp Keaton Administrator, at 905-387-2448 ext. 2208 or email knowicki@kemphospice.org.
